Some things are just better left to the professionals...
...like Oreos.
I cannot take credit for these beauties, they are the result of a baking day where I put all my focus on making a chocolate orange ricotta tart (recipe to come!) while my friends focused on soft pretzels and these... things...
They weren't terrible, they kind of tasted like really dry whoopie pies. They very nearly almost tasted kind of like Oreos too. I'd like to re-try making this and lending a bit more help to the situation. We shall see!

Chocolate orange ricotta sounds amazing. Homemade oreos are TOTALLY doable. I'm a fan of this recipe: http://freefoodboston.wordpress.com/2010/12/17/homemade-oreos/
ReplyDeleteOhh thanks for the tip! :) I will check it out!
DeleteLol! I have definitely made a couple things that turned out looking tlike that.
ReplyDeleteI just checked out your blog, not sure if you've commented here before but, woah! I am jealous of all your adventures! You're doing just what I want to do someday! Adding it to my RSS feed :)
DeleteI hate when that happens! It's just how life goes in the kitchen sometimes. :)
ReplyDeleteSigh. It happens to the best of us. If you're looking for a different oreo cookie recipe, the guinness cookies I used in my moon pies the other day was actually quite oreo-like and SUPER easy to make/work with!
DeleteHehe thanks! I think this recipe would have turned out better if we paid any attention to shaping of the cookies... we assumed they wouldn't spread and they did. Also the batter was rather sticky and hard to mold.
